Are Slip Silk Products Worth It?
Short answer: YES. 100%, YES.
The silk products by Slip truly make a difference on both skin and hair and are worth the price tag. I’m willing to bet that this is a purchase you won’t regret.
Pillow Case - I’ve been using the Slip pillowcase for over two years and can absolutely tell the difference in my hair texture when I don’t use Slip vs. when I’m home and do. This is particularly important if you have hair that tends to be frizzy, is color treated and if you want to prolong your style. Slip also attributes the decrease of wrinkles over time. This hasn’t been scientifically tested but honestly, the logic is solid so I believe it. This is because the silk material doesn’t create creases on your face and therefore equals less wrinkles over your lifetime. Unless you’re JLO and have trained yourself to solely sleep on your back. I also feel a difference in my skincare ingredients not being absorbed by the pillowcase and rather staying on my skin throughout the night.
My main recommendation when buying your pillowcase is to go with the Envelope Enclosure case vs. the Zippered. I had the zipper cases for about a year and it started ripping at the seams. I haven’t had any ripping issues at all with the envelop.
Sleep Mask - I didn’t use a sleep mask until my best friend told me it was essential. One night after using it, I was sold. It makes a difference in your sleep and if you’re a user of this, the silk one is a must. It doesn’t crease on your face or on the back of your hair and of course doesn’t absorb your skincare.
Skinny Scrunchies - I first got sucked into these silk hair scrunchies by receiving a single one with the purchase of my pillowcase. After a single use, I was hooked. Now, I put my hair up in a pony tail every night to maintain my style through to the next wash. This scrunchie doesn’t crease, tug or damage the hair. For those with thick hair, I recommend the large scrunchies while those of us with thin or fine hair should get the small ones.
Face Mask - The pandemic has changed all of our lives and we’re at a stage now where we can be picky with the face masks that we use vs. this time last year. This face mask is effective and passes the lighter/candle test. The best part is of course that it’s made out of silk, doesn’t leave creases on the face and minimally removes/lift makeup. It has adjustable ear straps and a nose strip.
Maintenance: For the first year of my first set of pillows, I used regular fragrance free detergent and attribute this to the early segregation of the zipper at the seams. Because of this, I switched to Slip’s proprietary detergent and haven’t had any issues! It’s delicate and fragrance free.
If you were to only start with one Slip item, I recommend the pillowcase - hands down. It has better long-term benefits for both skin and hair and also feel luxurious to sleep in. If you purchase any of the items I highlighted, let me know your thoughts!
